During operation, the rigid gear 6 is fixedly installed, with the teeth evenly distributed around the circumference. The flexible gear 5, with a flexible outer ring of teeth 2, rotates along the rigid inner ring of teeth 3. The flexible gear has two fewer teeth than the rigid gear, so for every rotation of the flexible gear along the rigid gear, it rotates in the opposite direction by an angle corresponding to two teeth.
