Harmonic Gearbox CSF-45-160-2UH

The Harmonic Drive CSF-45-160-2UH from Harmonic Drive Systems Inc. features an internal transmission component consisting of a wave generator with an elliptical shape and a flexible rolling bearing on the outer ring. The flexible gear has fewer teeth than the internal teeth of the rigid gear. As the wave generator rotates, the outer teeth of the flexible gear, corresponding to the direction of the major axis, mesh precisely with the inner teeth of the rigid gear.

Product Description

Because the number of teeth (Z) of the gear hob and the shift coefficient (m) are interdependent, the following conditions must be considered:

1) During the gear cutting process, ensure that the root of the gear hob teeth does not interfere with the tooth tip of the internal gear (interference at the tip);

2) During the radial cutting process, ensure that the gear hob teeth do not excessively cut the tooth tip of the internal gear (tip cutting during radial entry);

3) The root of the internal gear tooth profile cut by the gear hob should not have interference with the mating gear during the meshing process;

4) The gear hob itself should not produce severe undercutting;

5) The effective part of the involute tooth profile of the gear hob should have sufficient length;

6) The change in the root circle of the internal gear cut by a new gear hob and an old gear hob that has been sharpened multiple times should not exceed the design requirements;

7) The tooth tip of the gear hob should have a sufficiently large tip width.

Based on the above seven conditions, the following measures are taken:

1) To eliminate interference at the tip, the effective measure is to reduce the tooth height of the internal gear.

2) To avoid tip cutting during radial entry, the key lies in the selection of the number of teeth of the gear hob. When the difference in the number of teeth is greater than 17, the maximum shift coefficient that ensures no tip cutting during radial entry is a positive value. Conversely, when the difference in the number of teeth is less than 17, the maximum shift coefficient is a negative value. 3) When the number of teeth of the internal gear and the mating gear are given, selecting a hob with slightly more teeth than the mating gear ensures a larger value that prevents interference of the transition curve. For the Harmonic Drive CSF-45-160-2UH, when the number of teeth of the internal gear and the mating gear are the same, i.e., in the case of involute spline tooth connection, the value is at its minimum limit.
