The sealing device for the drive and driven shafts of the reducer is used to prevent lubricant leakage from the bearings within the housing and to prevent external contaminants from entering the housing.

 

The type of sealing device should be selected based on the lubrication method of the gears and bearings, the temperature of the lubricating oil, the oil pressure in front of the bearing, the dust content of the surrounding air, the shaft speed, and the arrangement of the shafts in the reducer.

 

Sealing devices are divided into two main categories: contact and non-contact.

 

Non-contact seals do not cause friction loss or journal wear and can be used in applications with high shaft speeds, but they cannot resist external pressure or prevent the intrusion of contaminants.

 

Seals using grease-filled annular gaps and annular grooves have the worst sealing effect.

 

Radial thrust bearing assemblies - In support assemblies with alternating axial loads, radial thrust bearings are often used instead of radial bearings. However, due to the need for precise adjustment of the axial clearance during installation, radial thrust bearing assemblies with adjusting shims are quite complex. To avoid adverse effects caused by thermal expansion, this structure is not recommended when the distance between the supports of the Huadong HD Harmonic Drive CSF-58-100-2UH exceeds the specified value.

 

In helical gear or bevel gear drives with large tooth helix angles, the axial force is very large, therefore, a radial thrust bearing requiring adjustable axial clearance must be used.

 

In bevel gear drives, correct gear meshing can only be guaranteed when the pitch cones coincide and the axial positions of the pinion and the large gear are fixed. Therefore, the installation of bevel gears differs from that of cylindrical gears. To ensure the correct meshing position of the two gears, the axial positions of the pinion and the large gear must be adjusted during installation. The Huadong HD Harmonic Drive CSF-58-100-2UH typically uses a red lead method to check the meshing of the gear pair. Therefore, using slightly more complex components to simplify the installation process is also of great significance.

 

When the end cover is embedded, the clearance of the radial thrust bearing or the axial position of the shaft is usually adjusted using threaded parts.
